Default Brake Pad Changing

I'll be changing my pads front and rear in the next few days. At 72k I think they've done rather well.
Anyone have any pointers to offer before I dive in?

Yeah, you really think the rotors need doing everytime the pads get changed?

Everytime? No. That said, I do them everytime. Why? Because new rotors are relatively inexpensive and it's just easier and far less time consuming to slap on new rotors instead of taking them out to have them turned or dressed.

Pick-up hardware kits. They come with:
-new rubber seals for the guides. yours WILL be age cracked.....
-new slide tabs for the caliper mounts. yours WILL be rusted
-extra 'V' springs to keep the pads off the rotor. your pads may come with only 1 for each corner

The kits are dirt cheap at RockAuto.com.

You'll know if your rotors need replaced. If they're not grooved, or haven't been ground several times, they don't need replaced. However, think about picking-up a resurfacing kit. 3M makes ones that most NAPA locations carry, as do many O'Reilly's. They work very slick: http://www.automotivetoolsonline.com...k-_p_9901.html
