Automatic Trans Help Please
I have a 2003 6 with the v6 engine. It currently has 116k miles and my wife has owned it since new. Trans fluid flush every 30k miles and impecable maintenance. I am experiencing shift shock between 2-3 shift. She has never used the slapstick shift option, always put it in drive. The problem seems to be less severe when the car is cold and at its worst, the rpms will climb about 800rpm between the shift and pop into gear violently. I just had the fluid flushed again and switched to synthetic. I had the throttle body replaced along with the tcm program about 2 years ago (it had shift shock between 1-2). My questions are: #1 Is there a program available at the dealership to adjust the shift settings for 2-3 (do the settings vary with trans fluid temperature). #2 What is the part number for the shift solenoid responsible for the 2-3 shift (I have pulled up the diagram of the valve body and solenoids with part numbers on alldatapro but it doesn't indicate which solenoid does what). And finally, does anyone have any information regarding this specific problem.
All answers are greatly appreciated.
thanks

No real helpful info for you but you may want to see if there's a ECU reflash available. I know the earlier year ATX 3's were plauged with shift shock and they have a reflash for them.
That's basically what I was going to say, even before reading your full post. Spots beat me to it.
Of course the other, more cynical comment I was going to make is, stay away from automatic transmissions. They are nothing but fuel robbing, power robbing, and boring-to-drive troublemakers.

Hey, I have the same model/year and almost same mileage... Mine has been doing this for about 40K miles on and off, and it's only when the car is hot too...
Tranny flushes help mimimally, and I had a TCM update for first to second shift issues years ago as well...
Wish I had a fix for you, but know you are not alone... sometimes the shift is so violent, I'd swear I left my tranny on the road.
Please post a reply if you ever get this figured out.
