auto night/day dimming setting not working

Default auto night/day dimming setting not working

2014 mazda6 itouring

need help fixing:

automatic day to night dimming and vice versa for interior dash lights and display...didn't work when i got the car, even though i have it set to auto.

any suggestions or thoughts? thx.

You can manually override it by twisting the trip meter **** ( which manually adjusts instrument cluster brightness), if its turned fully one way it goes full brightness & overrides the auto dimmer.

Welcome to the forum. grim_reaper beet me to the response. The old fashion **** next to the speedometer / tachometer (at least that is where it was on my last Mazda3) can be turned to override the brightness of the displays. I used this when the GPS was not bright enough at night to see specific roads and turned it back.
