Default 2015/16 engine reliability issues?

Hi,
Was looking at a 2015 or more likely 2016 Mazda 6. Between that and 2017 Skoda Octavia style. I prefer the Mazda-slicker exterior & v comfortable interior. On another forum 3 people in a row said avoid due to potential engine issues.
Is this something to consider or the problem exaggerated?
I could go for a 2017 version but it has 147k km on the clock and is SE spec.

Lastly, anywhere that lists the full difference in each model please?
Thanks
Pa

Petrol engines are virtually bulletproof. Diesel engine, far from perfect, in fact, the diesel is a lemon.

Petrol Mazda 6, 2015/16/17 seem to be far and few between (and I'd like an automatic on top of it)- can only see one in Ireland.

Are the diesels really that untrustworthy, if so it's a pity. I don't want to buy one and have the doubt in my mind. So it looks like I'll be going for a Skoda Octavia instead, quiet plain after driving a Mazda 6.....
