Default Buying advice

I am looking at '15 cx-9 because I want the power of a v6. I would like the sport model be cause I really don't want the sunroof.
I can be flexible if someone has a good reason to go for a '16 . Is the power loss really noticeable from 15-16?
Are there any showstoppers in the 15 , did they do a major facelift to improve things in 16, or is it just different.
Are there any known major problems with the '15?
Thanks for any advice

My brother had/has both and if anything, the newer CX-9 is quicker. There are two reasons for this, while his 2017 has 23 fewer horsepower, the available torque has not only a bump of 40 lb-ft, the torque is very flat and hits peak at only 2,000 RPMs versus 4,250 RPMs in the 2015. The second reason the newer CX-9 feels quicker is it weighs nearly 300 pounds less than the previous model.

Just for kicks and grins, I looked at a few test reports over on C&D's web site, here are the acceleration numbers:
0-60:
  • 2015: 7.6
  • 2016: 7.0

0-100:
  • 2015: 21.1
  • 2016: 19.2

5-60:
  • 2015: 7.8
  • 2016: 7.5
Slice it and dice it any way you want, the "lower powered" 2016 is quicker than the 2015.

I have a 2016. I believe it is a completely new version, certainly not a facelift. I'm really pleased with my '16. With the transmission switched to "Sport" mode (higher shift rpms) it has plenty of scoot. Fun in normal mode and really fun in Sport mode.
