2014 Mazda 6 2.2 Diesel - Turbo Problems
Driving to work this morning up the Motorway and experienced a brief loss of power under acceleration. Pulled over after a few miles in a layby to check things out, couldn't find anything wrong.
On pulling out with heavy acceleration, started to hear a whining noise from the turbo, accompanied by very poor acceleration. This continued for a number of miles then acceleration started to improve but the turbo continues to whine accompanied by an almost metallic (metal on metal) noise from the turbo under load. No engine lights have come on but performance is definitely affected.
I have a 100 mile trip to complete later and concerned this might deteriorate further. Having read other forums, I understand there are know issues with turbos and injectors for this engine. Just wondering if there is any experience out there of similar issues?

I would not start the engine nor drive it. Get it towed to a Mazda dealer ASAP. If the turbo lunches itself( it already sounds rooted), you can almost say goodbye to the engine as well.
Ok thanks, that's sort of what I was thinking.
I can't replicate the noise in neutral, it's only when the engine is under load on acceleration. Thinking about it, earlier in the journey there was also a loss of power, accompanied briefly with a strong diesel smell. Can only assume it's linked.
