Default 2007 Key fob on a 2005 car?

Just wondering if the newer key fobs on the 07 mazda 6's will work on an 05 6s? A friend test drove one recently and I was with him and I like those keys. The button ones where the key flips out and has the lock/unlock/trunk built into the key holder. Seems like just a reprogramming thing and get the key cut but I haven't been able to find a blank to have one made (if I can do so?) Thanks in advance for any help you guys give me! Haven't posted much on here but the help is always more than I needed, andI normally justdo asearch for past topics and I find my answer! Thanks again!

No, it won't work; the electronics are different. Besides, Mazda probably wants $200, alot cheaper on Ebay.

So, an extension to his quesiton, if one bought a blank key, how do you get it cut/programmed, and how much would it cost? I know you can get a key reprogrammed for free while under warranty (I just did that), but I don't know how much it would be to have one cut.

The actual cuttingshould only be a few bucks since you'll be supplying your own key. The big bucks are for the key and programming.

Then, is the programming free? What about free under warranty?

If the programming costs a lot, than it doesn't really matter if the cutting only costs a little, the key still costs a lot. Also, price ranges would be nice.

Thanks

The #1 question is whether the flip key for 06 & newer works for 05 & older. I think the answer is NO. Programming is probably not covered under warranty unless the original keys are not working. I suggest calling a Mazda daeler to get all your answers. Please let us know.
