Default 2005 Mazda 6 headlight problems

So over the past few months my mazdas front left headlight has gone out like three times and I don't know why. I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems or if anyone knows if this is a common problem with them from this year? Thanks

-Joe

High beam or low?

Low beam is a very outboard location and a loose part could be subjecting it to vibration, or a loose or missing gasket could be subjecting it to moisture.

I have replaced my(20004 6 Wagon) left low beam once and, as described elsewhere, it was a pain in the butt. You have to drop the inner wheel arch, and may also have to drop the front bumper. It's not quite as bad as it sounds but it seemed unnecessarily difficult and a few of the black push-fasteners broke in the process.

I have a 2009 mazda 6 4 cylinder with the driver side headlight no longer working. I had to use the high beam until I got the light replaced but when the attempt to replace it failed it also made the high beam stop working too. How does one fix this and is it costly? I have a mechanic that stated it could possibly be the computer. Could that be true? I am over my warranty by 800 miles and was wondering if there was ever a recall on this problem since it seems to be on going. Help please!

I purchased my 04 Wagon back in March and have changed the headlights (low beams) 3 times! It's really starting to bother me. Anyone have any ideas? Seems like several of us have this issue...

3times? Wow... Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but could you have touched the glass part of the lamp in any way? The way halogens work is the quartz gets super hot causing them to fail if any skin oils get on them. If any screws don't get back in the Assembly, could also be vibrations or moisture. Have you seen condensation?

The lamps will tend to fail within a few months of each other. They have the same average life span so this is normal if we are talking about different originally installed lamps. If they same a lamps are blowing, then I would suspect something in your installation technique.

If you think the car is blowing them electronically, which is doubtful because they are paired on the same circuit, you could measure the voltage on the plug with a voltmeter.

Incidentally I should have replaced both low beams at once, the other one started going off and on recently too so I pulled out the passenger inner arch and replaced it too.

The first time, I replaced both low beams, since I had just purchased the car. I have always replaced my bulbs in pairs since, yes, the other will go out shortly afterwards. Since then, I have only replaced the one that has burned out since it's only a couple months old. Once I get access to the bulb, I put on a new pair of latex gloves and change the bulbs still not trying to touch the lense. I'm amazed at how many people do not know not to touch the bulbs!

As to your other note, no condensation. I had that problem on my fog lamps on my F150, but so far, no condensation on these units, so not really sure what's contributing to the short bulb life ...
