2.3 sport 55 plate oil consumption is silly
Hi guys,
I bought my 6 about a couple of months ago. I really love the car but the oil consumption at the moment is a joke. I am losing about 1l a week/ 300miles.
I have taken it to a few garages and just gave up in the end and took it to Mazda. I specifically asked them to check the PCV which they say they have done and no problems. There are heavy deposits on plug 2+3 but not black. I have checked the compression and all cylinders are 9+ bar. No visible leaks or drips. No smoke, no loss of performance. I am really starting to lose patience with the situation as I have done nothing but burn and top up oil for a month to prove the rate of loss and now I'm doing it again!
I am also running out of time to get rid of the car if it is a pooch. So does anyone have an idea if what I am facing is normal or any ideas where to focus my attention?
Currently my mazda garage are telling me that an rx8 does 1lper 400 miles as some kind of 'they all do that' justification. Frankly that as a comparison from a professional concerns me no end.
