Hey All,

I have a 2005 Mazda 6..Hatchback.. 3.0 L.. with 51,000 miles on it. The past couple months my car has been jumping from 6th to 4th gear. I called Mazda and magically they said they haven't heard of this problem, which I don't believe at all. My warranty is up since its over 50,000 so no one will help me. [:@]

The only problem here is, the car only does it in AT, when I switch it over to manual with the sport shifter and drive it, it doesn't happen!

Does anyone have ANY clue what I could do? I'm worried about the transmission going out all together. I didn't know if there is a computer in the AT that is causing this problem only to happen with it or what!

 

Well, I am not a mechanic, but I have a hunch that it could be the TCM (or Transimission Control Module). It might be something electical or a problem with the computer... Someone can correct me if I am wrong. When you use the sport automatic feature, you are just telling the computer when to shift. It willeventually shift anyways without your input to avoid going beyond the redline. That is why I think it is something wrong with the computer.You are overiding the problem when you use the sport automaticfeature. But when in automatic mode, the tranny is confused of what gear to go to.. Just a hunch.. Does that make sense?
