Default $4200 rebates in Speed6, is this a good deal ?

So I am all lined up to get myself into a brand new '06 Speed6 Sport. Last week Mazda announced crazy rebates for S-plan (xplan, whatever) which knocks $4200 off of invoice. Here is how it broke down from my dealer, is this a good deal or do you think I could squeeze them for more? I am thinking of asking them to throw in the aftermarket moonroof or split the difference. Perhaps I should be more bold and ask for more money off? Please advise as new car purchasing is somewhat new to me!

28,730 MSRP
26,776 Invoice
-4200 Rebate
+ Tax and fees (not listed, but they add tax and fees before calculating rebate, 6% sales tax, 120-180 doc fee, 23ish for registration)
22,576 w/o tax and fees

Out the door: $24,385.76

I've seen people on the Mazda Protege forums mentioning they were getting 21.5, but I am thinking that might be a little extreme! Please advise!

That is not a bad price. I paid the same thing for my speed6 but it was used for the first 2000 miles by someone else. Mine has the touring package and a moonroof though. I think you could push for a little more, but you would not be any worse off if you did not get it, that is a good deal.

looks like a good deal to me. $22,000 for a turbo AWD sedan. Testers say it suprisingly doesn't feel anyhtin glike an EVO or STi but with those costing $30,000+ I'd take the speed6 with your offer.

I'll vouge that it feels nothing like the EVO or STI as I just took a drive in my friends 06 EVO MR. The MIVEC head on that thing is amazing.
Here are the engine specs:

EVO
Redline - 7000
Compression- 8.8:1
Displacement - 1997cc
Curb Weight: approx. 3300
Turbo Type: TD05HR-16G6-10.5T (Twin Scroll Turbine)
PSI: 19

Mazdaspeed6
Redline - 6700
Compression 9.5:1
Displacement - 2300
Curb Weight: approx. 3589
Turbo Type: Borg Warner/Hitachi KO4
PSI: 15

As you can see the MS6 SHOULD be quicker if you only look at the compression and displacement. The approx 200lb weight difference will of course have an affect on the times as well but I think the main problem is the turbo in the MS6. In my opinion, it's WAY to small and doesn't put out enough power. Even kicking the boost up to 19 to match the EVO, I dont think the stock turbo would be efficient enough.

Well I never said he was looking into an EVO either I was just stating another good selling point. also the EVO has much less in creature comforts especially if you opt for a touring Speed6.

I got my Speed6 with Sport package for $21,750 before tax, title and registration two days ago. The dealer had several left, so I think they were very motivated to sell.

BTW, it's a heck of a car!
