Mine's going in for 4wheel alignment on tuesday. Fed up with replacing front tyres. Less than 8k miles, and the inner edges are nearly shot. Back tyres doing good since shocks replaced. Taking Rhodri's alignment stats with me, just incase the tyre firm pull wool over my eyes.

But, I ordered 15 in rims for winter tyres for my 09 plate 5 sport and these did NOT fit. Does anyone know if the 16 in will fit???

Hi Tablerun, my summary post was only going on a majority view of those who had already posted, not my own experience. You may well be right about pre-facelift. I have front tyre wear problems, inner edge, and am looking for a local alingment specialist currently. Cheers, ChW

Interestingly on my latest set of front tyres I'm not seeing the excessive wear on the inside edges. I had them put on 14 months ago, have done over 10,000 miles, and they are not looking bad at all. I didn't have any alignment changes done when I had the tyres put on (the previous ones were almost bald on the inside edges at 10,000 miles), I just went for the cheapest brand of tyre I could get (Ling Lings, about £60 each).

Default Back from Hunter DSP600 wheel alignment

For my repetitive front inside edge tyre wear, changing tyres every 8k miles or so.

Attached is before and after. Seems left front toe at -9mins and therefore steer ahead was way out from nominals.

Looks like right rear camber has also been adjusted by -45 mins.

Does this make much sense to anyone please?

Cheers, tony

Tony,
I notice the picture shows details for Mazda 5 "except diesel". Is yours not a 2.0TD Sport ?
Or are those details generic ?

My fronts wear badly on the the outer edge instead of the inside.

Hi Maz5, good spot. Elite Tyres of Reading have just confirmed that there is only a minute's difference from petrol to diesel, so doesnt matter too much, esp given how far out my car was to start with.

Cheers, tony

Just got to replace my fronts again after 7000 miles was looking at, 205/50 V 17 : Barum Bravuris 2 XL or any other tyres? Can't believe the amount of people having tyre problems etc, pretty worrying

I have some Maxxis M36 tyres on the front of my sport - they have only worn down by about 2mm in 9K miles. The trouble is they are getting downright dangerous in the wet to the extent that you wonder if you will actually manage to turn the corner.

Gonna have to stick them on the back i think
