Default Rear view mirror just decided to fall of!

Hi

I’m hoping someone here can help!

when Leaving work tonight in what can best be described as a monsoon, the rear view mirror in my 2013 Mazda mpv decided it wanted to fall off completely detaching from the window screen, held only my the cable (I believe for the autodim) with no warning.

due to the time and as it was simply hanging by the cable,I popped into the local Halfords on the way home to try and at least temporary fix, but as expected the silly kit they had didn’t work, nor did the gorilla tape they then sold to me as an alternative.

Obviously I want a fully functional and attached mirror back. Does anyone know if this is possible to reattached properly by a garage?

many thanks in advance

The glass and especially the mirror mounting base must be cleaned and any ole adhesive removed. generally, on the mounting tab of the mirror if any old glue/adhesive is left the super glue in the mirror kit will not hold the mirror on the glass. Likewise, you must have full contact between the glass and the mirror mounting tab. If any air is trap because of not having 2 flat mounting surfaces during the drying of the adhesive the mirror will not stay attached to the glass.
