Default Mazda5 Issue

Hi,

I have a 2008 Mazda5. Yesterday the check engine light came on and am experiencing the following issue: When you are driving the car pressing the gas pedal (flooring it) only gets the car up to 30-40 kmh...it does not go any faster. I am unsure what could cause this and what I should be looking for?

any help would be appreciated.

Mike

You need to have it plugged into a code reader to find out what the fault code is. It could be anything.

Take it to Autozone. They'll read the code for you for free.

what engine? diesel or petrol?
The car has gone into limp home and has reverted to safe settings to avoid damage.
You need the codes read, but if you want to look under the bonnet check all the vacuum pipes for splits, falling off.

first check the gas cap. take it off, and put it back on. that often solves the problem.
