Mazda5 2007 Alarm / Theft-Deterrent System issues
Hi all,
New to this forum and I've booked an appointment at a local Mazda dealership but just hoping there might be an easy or alternative fix for my issue.
Purchased a used 2007 Mazda 5 yesterday. Today when I went to unlock it I somehow triggered the alarm / theft-deterrent system. I was not using the FOB as the one given to me by the previous owners is starting to come apart. I was using a replacement key. I immediately got in and started up the car but that failed to disarm the system. I was panicking and trying a bunch of stuff so I don't remember exactly what happened but eventually it went off. I read in the manual that starting the car should disable the system so it seems there is an issue--possible with the replacement key.
Is there any way to simply disable the alarm completely, in a permanent capacity? I hate car alarms in general and I'm not too worried about my 18 year old car being stolen, it's not in great shape. Any workaround or hack would be helpful. If not I will see what they say at the dealership. Thanks.
