Default Mazda 5 trailer wiring harness

I have a 2012 Mazda 5 with a trailer hitch. Any idea where the wiring harness would be? Doesn't make sense that someone would install the hitch without installing wiring.

I think you'll need to install one. There are some youtube videos about doing it.

Here's a video about doing it:

The guy says that it's not "factory authorized" because he gets power from the plug on the driver's side. That means that the power is not continuous and the trailer lights only work when the key is on. There manual says that Mazda5's are not designed for towing...but clearly folks have done it with light trailers.

I am thinking of installing this the same way the guy in the video did, although I am considering getting the power for the converter from the interior light on the passenger side of the rear compartment. Both the power plug and the light have 15A fuses. The converter uses a 10A fuse, so I will put that in between my splice in to the power wire and the converter... So it will be protected both by its own 10A fuse and the 15A fuse that is already on the light.

Curious if anyone sees a problem with doing it this way? The alternative is to do it the way that Curt recommends:

...but I'd rather not run the wire from the back to the front like they do...
