Default Mazda 5- Ignition really slow.

Hi guys, I am quite new to this so please be gentle with me. I have a Mazda 5 Furano (for about 3 years), its 2006 2.0 Petrol. Its had its fair share of problems but one which is annoying me at the moment is when turning the ignition key to fire her up it takes longer then normal and the car sort of judders after 2 seconds & then it starts.

I wondered if anyone else had ever had a simular problem as i remember when I originally had the car it started so fast & sweet at every turn of the key.

I'm hoping its something like the spark plugs something which I could do myself.

Thanks in advance people.

could be the fuel pump or fuel regulator.
Driving around with a vehicle with less than 1/4 tank of gas puts extra strain on the fuel pump shortening the life of the fuel pump.
The fuel around the pump also acts as a coolant so when fuel is low, no coolant to keep fuel pump cool.
I would turn the key to the on position for 2-3 seconds before cranking it over which should help build fuel pressure for starting.

Expecting the car to fire right up every time is a tall order! Other factors could be in hand as well.
