Engine has a pretty rough idle, shakes a decent amount in the engine bay and is pretty noticeable inside when parked / at a stop.

This evening I’ve changed all spark plugs, tried idle relearn, cleaned throttle body and mass airflow sensor, but no real impact. The vehicle also has super spongy brakes (suspected air in lines), and I’ll bleed them tomorrow but don’t believe it’s associated with the rough idle. The vehicle was just inherited and had been sitting previously for around 18 months. New battery installed today.

Have you inspected the engine mounts? RHS mount is super common to collapse and transmit engine vibrations direct to the chassis.

 

I’ve seen that was a pretty common issue, I just wasn’t sure if the would be associated with the poor idle performance and the spluttering exhaust.
