Mazda 5 Furano 2.0 Petrol 2010 - Ticking/Tapping Noise from Engine
Hi All,
I have a Mazda 5 Furano 2.0 Petrol and it has a tapping/ticking noise. You can hear it whens its idle and I guess when you are driving but not as clear due to road noise etc.
I have had it fully services including Oil change. Lot of comments on other sites point to Hydraulic Valve Lifter.
The Car has approx 108, 000 Miles
I have just today added in Wynns Wynn's Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment but i guess that will take a few days to mix in with the oil and for me to get an idea
Oil I use: Car Engine Oil Triple QX SynPlus SAE 5W30 C3
Any other suggestions please. I dont want to spend any more than £2-300 max on this.
Thanks

I'm experiencing something similar. Happens during idle but also when I'm accelerating and reach close to 60mph but when i let off the accelerator it stops. Did you ever figure out the root of the problem?
I also have a check engine light at the moment. Got the code p0171 (fuel trim system too lean) that a mechanic diagnosed was the result of a hairline crack in a valve cover. I'm not confident that the valve is causing the ticking or not but then again I'm no mechanic

Hi,
Unfortunately I didn't. Took it to a few different garages. Some said it was by bottom end - cylinder. Some said possible timing chain, tensioner. I just gave up and trying to sell it through auto trader / ebay / facebook. I even brough the price down to £1700 - however the description in the advert of the ticking/tapping noise puts people off. Still drives fine and in my case I got no engine lights and drives fine apart from that noise.
You can have a look at this it might help:
