Question Mazda 5 door mirror assembly (not) powerfolding

I have a Mazda 5 Takara (2010, CR19). A while ago the passenger door mirror started getting a bit wobbly, then it started continuing to operate the unfolding motor even when unfolded (until I jiggled it around), and then it started not unfolding at all.

I found a video on YouTube and decided I could replace it myself rather than pay the extortionate quote from the dealer. I sourced a replacement assembly on ebay and had a go at fitting it yesterday. Miraculously (I'm not very good at this kind of thing) it seems to have worked!

... except that the powerfolding does not work at all. I queried the vendor, who said this was a manual folding mirror, not a powerfolding one. Sure enough, when I look closely at the connector I see only 5 wires on the replacement when there are 7 on the original. (Fortunately though, the 5 wires are the same on both, i.e. the mirror electric adjustment does work.) I had just assumed all Mazda 5 door mirrors were powerfolding.

My question is: if I did decide to try to buy a replacement powerfolding mirror on ebay, how would I identify it? I've double-checked, and the markings on the underside of both seem to be exactly the same, namely:

III e4 02*2284 ISHIZAKI 521
02*2285 ISHIZAKI 522
03*2284 ISHIZAKI 521
03*2285 ISHIZAKI 522

III E4 012284
012285
022284
022285

(the numbers line up, I just can't find a way to change the formatting)

What identifier do I need to search for to find powerfolding (passenger side, preferably copper red) Mazda 5 Takara mirror assemblies? Which models are compatible with a Mazda 5 Takara?

My subsidiary question is: if I dismantle the old one and find the broken cog or whatever, how would I source a replacement for that?

You answered your own question. Just look at the number of wires to see if it is power folding.

In general, I think advertisements don't specify the number of wires, so you can't search for that.

But are you really telling me that the part numbers for powerfolding and non-powerfolding mirror assemblies are the same? So when a garage orders a mirror assembly from a dealer, they can't just say "1x part 022285-521 please" but they have to say "1x part 022285-521 but make sure you send me the one with 7 wires not with just 5 wires please"?! If I find one with 8 wires will I get an upgrade to a heated side mirror?

While I'm at it: when I was effecting the replacement, I found that the little (interior) panel I had to prise off to get access to the bolts to remove the mirror assembly had two wires going into it. What on earth are they for?

Any thought on this one?

Also, the old assembly (powerfolding) had a plastic+metal nipple thing that the new assembly (non-powerfolding) did not have. Any ideas what this is for? I couldn't immediately see what it connected to. Could it be something to do with static electricity? Why would the new assembly not need it (or was it broken off)?
