I have a 2014 Mazda5, 160k miles, no issues other than regular maintenance. Last week I was driving and went over a ~3" bump in the road where construction workers were prepping for resurfacing (not sure if relevant or not)...and the next time I went to brake, the pedal went all the way to the floor and eventually stopped. I figured out i could pump the brakes to get stopped, so I drove it straight to the shop.
Shop checked it out and couldn't replicate the problem. Car stops fine they say. This is our normal shop that I trust.
So now I'm anxious to drive wondering if this will happen again or if it was a fluke. Thoughts?
You service shop missed something during thier test drive and inspection? Just because they could duplicate the event does not mean to igore it, esp[cailly on BRAKES.
2 things..
Find a better service shop because that one has poorly experienced mechanics'
Then the ASE independent service shop you find explain to them what you posted here explain to them that you want a complete brake system and brake safety inspection. That shop that has the ASE sign or widow decal as such ASE, has qualified and trained auto mechanics and or auto technicians that brakes is part of their testing to qualify to be certified as an ASE.
