Default i-Stop.

Hi all and thanks for letting me join Mazda's forum I have today bought a Mazda 5 sport 7seater and I love it.
when I bought it the last owner told me he had turned off the i-Stop. The i-Stop light is flashing and I can't get it off when I press the stop button nothing happens.
Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks in anticipation. Vin.

Did you get this sorted Vin?

I recently picked up a 2014 3 2.0 SkyActiv-G SE-L, still trying to figure out the i-stop.

I did find a guide on resetting it.
  1. Switch the ignition off.
  2. Switch ignition on (but don't start the engine)
  3. Long-press the i-stop OFF button for 3 seconds within 5 seconds of switching the ignition on.
  4. Start the car.
  5. Press the i-stop OFF switch.
I tried this, and it seemed to work for a while, but now it is reluctant to work again.
You have to press and hold the switch going either way (on/off) until it beeps.
I can get it to go off,
i-stopshowing Amber, but just can't get it to work.

Battery is good, charging at 14.3V at idle.

I also found this slightly more involved guide;

IStop reset procedure
1. Warm up the engine. Turn everything off that you can - radio, A/C etc so there is no electrical load.
2. Switch the ignition off.
3. Switch ignition to on but dont start engine. Long-press the i-stop OFF switch for 3 s within 5 s after switching the ignition ON.
4. Start the engine.
5. Press the i-stop OFF switch. Verify that the i-stop indicator light (green) flashes and stays flashing. If it does not flash, go back to Step 2.
6. Allow the engine to idle for 10 minutes, or until the i-stop indicator light (green) turns off.
7. Switch the engine off. Wait a few minutes
8. Start the engine. Go for for a drive and check that the i-stop system operates.
9. Done.

I have a 2013 venture edition with a flashing istop light, what I can tell you from running mine is that my ancillary battery is weak, so in my case, the system will fail to restart the car when it cuts the engine.
You will need an obd2 reader to reset the light unfortunately.
I have a cheap basic one in my glove box, It doesn't come up as an actual error code on the reader, but clearing the codes on the handset then turning the ignition off and on again, it will reset the flashing istop light.
It doesn't fix anything at all, as soon as you come to a stop and istop cuts the engine, the car will fail to start itself up again and the light will go straight back to blinking at you.
But if you reset it and remember to turn the istop system off whenever you start the engine, you'll be able to avoid the infernal flashing light
