I just bought a 2006 Mazda5 (111K miles; really good condition). It has a DVD navigation system, which is unsurprisingly terribly out of date. Is there any way to update it to something current, or is it useless at this point?

Download the Mazda Toolbox and purchase a database update. Follow instructions for updating the Navigation system and you should be good to go

 

Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell that only works with the SD cards and this vehicle has a DVD system, not SD card.

 

I already did that and have installed the very latest software upgrade; still did not fix the issue.
