Default Droplink replacement @ 28,000 miles !

Hello

Cars just gone in for an MOT (4yrs old) and have been advised that three of the droplinks need to be replaced on the suspension.

Given that the car has only done 28,000 miles is this reasonable ?

Also, could it be related to the suspension mods performed to correct the tire wear ??

Any thoughts would be welcome !

Thanks
Duncan

Would the droplink cause the suspension to be rather noisy, almost like a rattle, when goinv over bumps? We have an anoying rattle-like sound, mostly coming from the rear, and I am wondering if this could be the problem? Car is going in for servicing this weekend, and I will ask them about it also...

It could be a drop link gone, which would cause a chattering knock over bumps or we had a shock absorber bolt come loose which caused a knock.

Drop links do wear, but I'd think 28000 miles is a bit premature. However, with all the speed humps we have in this country I'm not surprised. I'm a mobile mechanic and the amount of broken springs, droplinks etc I change now compared to a few years ago is ridiculous.

Hi folks,
Can anyone help me out here? What part of the suspension are you all referring to as drop links? Is this possibly the same as swaybar endlinks? Because, if so, I am no stranger to this problem. My '98 S70 would go through endlinks every 30k miles like clockwork. Solution was aftermarket heavy duty endlinks.

Anyway, wife just complained the first time last night that she is hearing a clunk over bumps. Unfortunately, this happened the very next day after I swapped on aftermarket wheels and tires, so I want to make sure it is not something I've caused with the swap ... although I don't see how.

If it is the endlinks we're talking about, has anyone tried an aftermarket solution. I see some for the Mazda3. Would those work?
