Default DPF Light Flashing

Hi everyone! We have owned our 2008 Mazda5 2.0D Sport Nav for nearly 3 weeks now! Tonight the DPF light has started flashing, I know if it comes on steady it needs a good run, but flashing means go to dealer. I know it had a service before we bought it (from a car supermarket) so i guess it wasn't a main dealer service. I have read that this can come on like this if the ECU isn't reset when it's serviced rather that it needing a forced regen, the problem I have is the garage where I bought it is about 85 miles away and they have given me a 3 month warranty, if its just £40 or so to have the ECU reset at a local dealer it'll be cheaper and easier than going back to the dealer to have it done under warranty! Can anyone confirm if this is likely?
Thanks

Just an update! I have just got back from my local Mazda dealer. This fault was caused by the car not having an ECU / DPF reset when it had a service carried out by a non mazda dealer. They have reset it and I'm £55.44 worse off! Must admit I'm actually quite relieved, it couldv'e been alot worse! Just a shame it has to be serviced at a main dealer to stop this problem!
