Default Dealer problem

Hi
Has anyone else experienced main dealer trying to get extra work.
I took my newly acquired TS2 2007 to the dealer to take advantage of their free winter check. They work on a traffic light system, red in need of repair, amber needs attention soon and green OK

after they gave my car the once over they said 1 rear shock needs replacing at a cost of £132(which I already knew bought some KYB)
Trail arm bushes £434
Sway bar bushes £172
Wishbone bushes need replacing and a couple of tyres were bald although still had 2,8mm tread left, and a chip in the windscreen

I took it to another independent garage and they confirmed the shock and trail arm bushes probably would benefit from being replaced. As for the rest Sway bar bushes are ok and the tyres OK, which bone bushes OK and no chip on the windscreen

Looks to me that the dealer was trying it on to get extra work (not busy at all staff stood around twiddling their thumbs)

As any one else had this from there main dealer

Of course. That's why here in the U.S. they are often referred to as "stealerships." However, that said, it seems yours was pretty much right on the money.. though OE parts from a stealership are always more expensive. If you're going to do the rear bushings, do them. Having some new and some worn and only replacing the worn ones will likely cause the new ones to wear out faster.
And let's face it, <3mm of tread isn't much. For safeties sake, and with winter coming on, or here (where you are) you should replace them.
What I'm curious about is the chip in the windshield? If there isn't really one there, and that's something easily checked by the owner, why would they say that?
