Check your EGR valve
Hi all,
Following info maybe of use.
I recently experienced a severe loss of power which appears to be due to a sticking EGR valve. The car suddenly struggled to maintain 30mph on the flat and had no response from the accelerator. No warning lights were showing. Took it to the dealer for a diagnostic check which showed a fault with the EGR valve. The mechanic found it quite choked with soot. After cleaning the valve the car is behaving normally again. It seems to me this is something that should part of the service schedule - say every 4yrs/50000mls.
Car is 5yr old Mazda5 2.0D Sport. 66500miles.
Best Wishes.
Rhodri.
