Don't forget the falling value of the US $. Since oil is traded in $$, oil is pricier for us here in the U.S., but has increased less for others.

Paid $ 3.05 a gallon today..... down about 3 cents since Friday.....
Here in the UK, my Mazda 5 runs on diesel which today is £1.13/litre which at today's exchange rate works out at about $8.56/US Gallon.

(working on 3.79litres/Gal (US) and approx $2 = £1)

Unleaded petrol is slightly cheaper, about $8.20/gal

My Mazda 5 is (well, was at the time,September 06) the top UKspec Sport-Nav 2.0 Turbo Diesel, and I think was around £19,800, so $39600 or thereabouts. So please consider us over here before telling the world that petrol is expensive!!!

Dave.

I an American who drives a US spec Mazda 5 in the UK and just thought I'd add a bit to the discussion. I fuel up on a US military installation here and am paying about $4.20 per gallon. Our government thankfully pays the difference. Off base it's about $8.20 per gallon as stated above. I think the price is relative to the type of currency you get paid with. I get paid in dollars and am paying $4.20 per gallon, while folks in the UK get paid in pounds and are paying around 4.20 pounds per gallon. The paid numerical value is nearly the same, it's the net worth thats the kicker. With the dollar being nearly usless now, it sucks for me if I go on a road trip and can't find a base to fill up at. That would result in a $100+ trip to the gas tank.[:'(]

It is so much more fun driving on the roads here in England. I haven't found a straight patch of road yet. Just before shipping my car here, I drove a 9 hour stretch of straight road from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Las Vegas, Nevada. That had the be the most painfully boring drive I have taken so far...and I love road trips.

Well, I don't know if you'd consider it "fun", but how about the lower West side? It won't be "boring," I promise that.

While you're here, if you ever get chance, we have a little plot of land here in the north west called The Trough of Bowland. Bloomin good fun especially at night

As for fuel, put £5 in today at £1.099 per litre got 4.55l just over 1 UK gallon
