Default Automatic Wiper Issue

So lately, when the automatic wipers kick in, they go straight to super fast mode, even in a light mist or drizzle. Have cleaned the windshield, so not an issue pertaining to spattered bugs or anything. We are forced to use the regular wiper settings and skip the auto setting (wish they had a manual intermittent setting as well.

Does anyone know what it might take to solve this? Am thinking this is the last thing I want to spend $$ on, would just live with the issue instead, but if its an easy fix, might take care of it. I am guessing the sensor itself? and I am guessing it would be big $$$.

Have you tinted the top of your windscreen? Is the whole windscreen 100% clean?

100% clean. No tint or anything, all factory original.

So our wipers are now once again working perfectly. I have a hunch as to the issue.

Last weekend we had our serpentine belt replaced (more on that in another thread). I suspect that the shop had disconnected the battery, or reset the computer or something, because after I picked up the car the wipers were perfect.

Perhaps it is a fluke, but regardless, I am happy.

BONUS! Love it when a plan comes together.
