Hi all

Im new here.

I have a 2014 Mazda 5 grand toruing
it has 93000 miles.

i recently have had issues when accelerating. I will try and describe it the best i can

so when the car idles it idles smooth around 700rpms, my wife says it has started rough sometimes as well. but for the most part it starts ok
when in park i step on the accelerator and it revs to 4500 then jumps back and forth about 500rpms, kinda like it has a rev limiter.

when i drive it on the free way, as i accelerate, it sounds rough and almost sounds like it is backfiring/misfiring or somthing and sputtering as the rpms hit 3000 but when i level out at 75 to 80 mph it is smooth.

no smoke, no check engine lights,

i checked the TPS sensor, that seems good. no oil leaks, i just changed my oil. spark plugs were changed 1 year ago. i did not checm resistance on the coil plugs. \

my gut leans toward VVT? im hoping it is something simple.

please help if you can. thanks!

 

update.

i am narrowing it down to the fuel delivery systems.

im having trouble finding where to attach a pressure gauge to tests the fuel pressure. any one have the location?

so i went to auto zone becuase my engine light came on

they told me it was codes:

p0171 system to lean bank 1
p0123 throttle/pedal position sensor A circuit high input
p0222 throttle/pedal position sensor B circuit low input
p0171 system too lea bank 1

autozone was suggestion replacing the Mass air flow sensor

i purchased one for $70 and the engine light went off as i went home

later on today as we ran errands, the engine light came on.

went back to autozone and the same codes popped up.

so its not the MAF sensor.. what is it??? TPS sensor?
