Default The wife is pregnant, Now

Hey The old lady is pregnant. Now what do I do? Should I trade in the almost one year old 3 in for a SUV? I need more room, or should I keep it until the little **** gets bigger, then trade it for the CX7 ? Not sure I can afford the 7, would have to look into it.

First....congratulations

Second....What does she drive? What do you need the room for? Would a roof rack give you the added storage space you need?

I've got (2) kids, one 3.5 and one 1 yr old, both car seats fit in my 3 just fine, the rear facing one required the pass seat to be slid forward, but my wife is fairly small so it didn't matter. Anyway, the car seats were in my wife's car (Mazda6 Sportwagon)99.9% of the time anyway as I work and she stays home with the kids.

If you do need more space, look for a used 6 Sportwagon. They work great.

3 should be fine. You won't need the room till the kids play hockey or some kind of sports. We've never needed a *&(*& SUV or a god forbid, minivan......

Hey Congrats EC, I think? You don't sound too sure.....?

You'd take a big hit trading in a one year old car, and I don't see why the 3 would be too small for a child seat anyway.

Like SST suggests, why not get a roof rack and put the kid up there. He'lllose all sense of fear before long, and have an open air ride in the mean time. Then there will still be room for you and the wifeto have sex in the back of the 3, and you won't lose massive amounts of $$$ on a trade in. Oh, you may have to get a bigger vehicle once the roof rack is full, but w/just one of the little ****ters.
Speaking of which, if you do that, you won't ever have to worry aboutthat ****ty diaper smell IN the car, and no lil' accidents that will stain the interior either.

See? Problem solved. You shoulda' come to me first.

LOLLLLL i like richards thinking there. haha. i think that it would be fine. i mean i can fit 3 people about the size of me in my backseat pretty good. it should be easy. also if your wife has a bigger car then you really dont have to worry about it as much. keep your 3 and deal with it when the time comes to get a new 3 hehe

The CX-9's are really nice but gas hogs.

I'm just under 6' myself but only 145lbs. (65.77kg) and I could barely fit 3 of ME in there... and not for very long either.
