Where in the world are you?

Is your fuel cap on the LHS? In my market its on the RHS.

2010 maybe the switch over year in your market. If it has a external filter, it will be down in the front of the RH rear wheel arch. If its the facelift model, it has a intank fuel filter, due every 150,000kms / 90,000 miles.

If you're in the U.S. your car might not have a fuel filter; if it does there is no recommended change interval (i.e. it should last the life of the car).

Have a really good look in, under, & in front of both rear wheel arches. If you can't see a filter like the photo above, then either there is a long life filter in the tank, or some fairy stole it.

Wonder if we could put up links for frequently asked questions?

No Filter to replace in the USA vehicles. If you find any pixie dust near or on your fuel cap, that's the first sign of fairies. They're easy to get rid of, it's the road gremlins that give me a hard time.

Strangely enough, my 2005 Tacoma has no fuel filter either.

Just went through the owners manual for the 2014 Mazda3 and never saw any reference to it (no location specified) except in the maintenance section.

Nothing strange about your Tacoma not having a fuel filter; manufacturers started building cars in the very early 2000s without filters, and by the early "twenty-teens" have gotten to the point where virtually every car sold in the U.S. and Canada comes without a fuel filter. That said, someone on this board did manage to find at least one current model still sporting said filter.

Japanese built BM Mazda 3, 2013 - 2016, have a intank fuel filter, it's incorporated in the housing that contains the fuel pickup pump. The Main fuel pump/high pressure pump runs off the exhaust camshaft at the end on the head.

** Part #5 in picture is the Fuel Filter **
