I need a new passenger-side engine mount. I have read that people have replaced them with OEM mounts, and they broke again. I am looking for a performance mount, so I don't have to replace it again. Any input is much appreciated. I have an 05 3 s.

 

mazda is notorious for bad mounts, for the sake of less cabin vibration. the passenger mount is the most common one to go 1st, my thought as to why a stock one fails after is because of improper tourqe applied. If you still feel that you should go aftermarket id recommend an awr mount but be aware that there is not a company that offers the feel of a stock mount other than OEM

 

What do you mean by the improper torque applied? this isn't a 'rubber sandwich' style of mount, so bolt torque shouldn't matter right?

 

bolt torque ALWAYS matters, its what hold the mount to the chassis, overtourqed means streched bolts mean means they can snap or allow the mount to move to much which is another failure. There is a reason for torque specs, its so stuff dont break, leak, fail, all of the above

 

ok, i agree with the potential of bolt failure, or rattling if the torque is too low - it's just not the first thing I think of when someone says the motor mount failed, had me confused.

 

well the reason why i said that was because of this statement "I have read that people have replaced them with OEM mounts, and they broke again." first thing i would jump to that they didnt torque it down right, they just did the "tight as fk" feel no actual tq bar

Sorry for the delay. So a properly installed OEM mount should do the trick then? As long as it is secured properly. Thanks for the advice. Now where to buy one?
