Oh, to answer the original question of the post:

For the Mazda3 the sedans make up 67% of all made, leaving a sad 33% for the HB.

Sedan is only cheaper if it has the 2.0 L engine. The 2.3 L engine cost as much as the HB. And I still see more sedan than HB. I also like sedan more than HB. Not here to offend anyone, but I hated station wagon with a vengeance. So to me HB is a mini station wagon that is butt ugly. We all have our own taste I guess. Right now more sedan is on the road than HB is telling me that ppl. like sedan more than HB.

As for the 2010 Mazda3, I love the rear, front was looking a little odd to me at 1st, but after seeing one in person, it grew on me and I like it all around now. Only thing I don't like is the interior center console, especially the tiny little screen for GPS.

When I went and looked at the 3's, my one concern with the sedan was whether I could get 2 sets of golf clubs in it. Got the hatch and love it for its versatility.

I couldnt remember the name at the time, I was fond of the three door sport version at first, but didn't see any besides the one on display at the mall.

And to the rest,
The main reasons for the more Sedans versions on the road than the HB is: Price and the fact that more than twice the amount of Sedans were made than HB.
Like I said before 33%=HB 67%=Sedan

I like what they did with the Mazdaspeed 3. If you take a nice good long look at it you figure out why it looks different than the normal HB. They took the hood from the sedan, plus headlights and put those on the HB. I'd like to do that to my own HB, I like the front end of the sedans, its somehow more sleek.

The hood is flat all the way to the grill on the sedans, whereas the HB has an indented hood where the grille is attached.

The OE MS hood has even more bulges than the NA!! It has a "power bulge" to clear the TMIC, and still wraps around the grill as do the NA HB's like mine.
