I have a 2007 mazda 3, 2.0l 5 speed.
the vvt sprocket is pooched.
looked online and I'm having a hard time finding one for the 2.0. All the ones I find are for the 2.3l engine.

would the 2.3 vvt sprocket work? Are they the same?
I could weld and lock out the vvt sprocket but that seem janky. I don't know alot about the vvt system.
any help would be much appreciated.

 

Welding it won't work. The ECU/PCM would go crazy with fault codes & warning light, plus it would seriously affect engine performance and may result in limp mode.
