Transmission mount broke
My 2008 Mazda 3 started vibrating the last few days. I thought it was an exhaust leak but heard a loud bang today while accelerating. I popped the hood and the motor was tilted forward and towards the drivers side. I drove it home from about 140 km like this and it ended up dying about 5 km from home. I got it towed and started to take a look. The bolt had stripped out of the three legged transaxle mounting point and the whole thing dropped. The mount itself was torn in several places. Easy enough to fix this. I took the intake boot off to get to this mount. When I took it off it was full of a clear oily fluid. It had choked out the throttle body and that is why it died. I just don't know what this fluid could be. It's way to clear for engine oil and my brake/clutch fluid is slightly yellow in colour. This stuff looks like mineral oil. It was only in the throttle boot. It wasn't in the air box. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I wiped it all away and the car fired right up. Just stumped.
