Default Tranny Fluid Color

Hi All,

Quick question. I though the golden rule of thumb was a light reddish/cherry color for tranny fluids is what it should be. But I hear that synthetic based fluids turn a light brown after not many miles. Is this true? Because I have to get an oil change and I always check the level of all my fluids and the color of my tranny fluid is a dirty light brown color. Its making me quite nervous. I figured if it were bad the dealership would have told me as they always want business. My Mazda 3 has about 27,800 miles on it. What do you all think?

Well guys, the way it went down is I had to pay the 129.95 to get the fluid changed. But I talked to the mechanics there and they told me that the mazda 3 tranny fluid is "light" and it changes color rather quickly. So I dont know if anyone else has experience this as well?

Not an issue with manuals, hence the earlier comment about changing the transmission.

Hmm.. ok, never heard that one before. But you had it replaced and that should give some more piece of mind.
