Hi, Am wondering if the engine in a 2005 2.3, 3S is an interference engine, seeing as how that's what did in my 2000 Passat. Any one know?

Um Not possitive myself, But that should be in the owners manual ? I'm just guessing that it should be, but good, luck

Neither am I, but are you aware that these engines have timing chains not belts?

You won't find it in the owners manual.

both the 2.0l & the 2.3l mazda 3 motors are timing chain motors. they are also interference motors.

I assume then, that with chains, they won't be changed, and shouldn't break. I'll check with my service writer and let you know.

Oh, don't assume that, They will need changing eventually, like all the parts on any car. But itshould run the regular life of the car. (Translation= 100k+ miles or more.)
