Default Single clunk when accelerating

Hey guys,

I tried to google and do some reading about a problem (or more of an annoyance than anything.) But I couldn't find anything describing the problem I'm having.

My current Mazda 3 (2004 1.6l manual 160k on the clock) is giving a single clunk sound coming from the front end of the car when you accelerate from a stop. This only happens once per journey and only after the car has been stopped and parked. I can reverse out of my parking stop, put it into 1st, accelerate out of my drive, and only when i change into 2nd and go up to around 30kmph does it give a clunk, single sound and that's it for the rest of the journey.

My wife is bugging my to take the car to a service (for what good it will do..) as she is refusing to drive it until some "qualified" mechanic gives the all clear.

Also have a MOT coming up in the next month so lets hope for the best.

-Jake

Check the lower rear engine/gearbox mount.
A- common to flog out,
B- common to get stones stuck behind them.

Yea clunks on acceleration tend to be worn out motor mounts, and on rarer occasions transmission mounts. Diagnose and fix it quick, if you can hear it it is probably putting undue wear and tear on your drive train.
