Default Reverse Light

How can I make my one reverse light brighter? Is there a brighter bulb that wont melt the housing? Its not really all that bright when its very dark out, even worse when its raining.

I have actually replaced mine with LEDs, they are much brighter and shine a nice natural light in the rear of my car.

It also helps that they are low power consumption and produce little to no heat.

I've had the same problem, and looking at LED lights, their specifications look a lot dimmer than the stock lamps. This is something i've got slated for a summer project. Let us know if you install LED lamps or find some other solution.
I was thinking of installing a set of fog lamps and point them rearward - tie that to turn on with the reverse lights.
