Rec. Oil Change time/mileage on Speed 3

RE: Rec. Oil Change time/mileage on Speed 3
I think the owners manual says 5,000 miles for severe use and 7,500 miles for normal use. I think the standard is turbo = severe use. I had mine changed at 750 miles and will have it done at 5,000 miles with synthetic and then every 5,000 miles after that. I don't remember anything specifically saying that the turbo must be done at 5,000 mile OCI so they might have to warranty the 7,500 mile OCI. Read the owners manual and see what it says. The dealers want 3,000 OCI to make money.

Didn't your car come with an owner's manual???? I know if I had bought a Speed, I'd read that sucker cover to cover.
With oil/engine technology today (even regular oil) there is no need to change the oil more frequently than every 5,000 miles (8,000 km), just make sure to check the level to make sure it's full and you're fine.

Call me old school, but I wouldn't wait 5,000 miles before getting my first change. A new engine throws out some unique acids and particulate during its first few hundred miles, I would get a change done somewhere before hitting 1,000 miles.

Yeah you can go longer with synthetic oil....but 5k is too long for me regardless of what oil you use....2K miles is what I do. I'm at 1500 and when she's back on the road then it will be time for an oil change.....

Feel free to change it that often, but there really isn't a need to, and you're really wasting money.
Don't you think oil and engine technology has gotten better over the last 30 years? The 3,000 mile rule is ancient.
