Power issue
I was wondering if anyone had a parts manual for a 2004 Mazda 3 5-door. I stupidly connected the battery leads backwards (I was in a hurry, and it was dark, I put the battery in backwards....i'm ready to shoot myself). Well the old battery does the same thing. The power doesn't work in the car (I can't open the doors with the power locks, the interior lights don't work when you open the door, the power windows don't work, ETC) and when i turn the key the dashboard lights come on, but it just clicks. Doesn't seem like the starter because it wouldn't click right? Anyone have an idea what this could be?
Thanks for writing back. I did. There were 2 blown fuses under the glove box and 1 under the hood. Got power back from what I can see, but still does not turn over. Just clicks like before. A solenoid blown? Is there any way to tell if the big cube fuses are blown?
So basically everything (electrical) is working except the starter? If so, I would vote for the solenoid. But without testing it, you are takiing a chance in replacing it. As you know, parts places won't accept electrical returns.
