Default New Mazda3 availability

I'm trying to buy a whitewater pearl 3S 5 door and my dealer is telling me he CAN'T tell me when I could expect to receive one from the factory. There are none within the surrounding 5 state area and I may have to get one from Kentucky, though I don't really want to pay for the transport cost to my dealer.

Anyone know if Mazda is behind on 3 production and what kind of lead time should be expected - or is the dealer playing games?

I'm in Southern California, and I was told by the dealer that the pearl is very hard to get. One of the sales guys showed me his 5 door with that paint, and he told me he bought it right off the transport truck, before it was even for sale at the dealer. Sorry to deliver the bad news, but hey man... if you have to wait, you can get the Mazda Speed with the turbo (this fall?) - I kinda wish I would have waited for that one.

FYI - I bought the 4 door S Touring a month ago in titanium grey and I LOVE IT.

Best of luck to you getting the one you want!

Default Finally got my car

Finally got my car. Dealer went back and forth between different dealers and had a hard time making a deal. Took a loooong time. Paid 17,000 flat with S Plan (invoice), including locating and trailering several hundred miles for a 3S 5 door pearl white, basic. I'm satisfied with the price and love the car. She's sexy. I want to see how high I can get mileage-wise, but then I keep sticking my foot into the go pedal. Redline comes quick in first. What I really like is the low speed torque (for a little 4 banger). I find the engine will pull third gear from 1000 rpm after I turn the corner in a neighborhood. Past experiences with manual transmission cars in the past made me think this car wouldn't pull 3rd gear at 1000 rpm. Me like.
