Thanks for the info, eastcoaster. I talked to one alarm installer today who charges 80/door, plus 179 (or more) for the lock kit. That sounds really steep to me. I moved on fast. Still calling. I think I'll just get the lock kit from the installer, that may circumvent the install problem... sounds like buying any old set will be problemmatic.

i got my 2007 3i touring galaxy grey (MSRP $17650)through the costco program. it was supposed to be $200 under the invoice price, but at the time when the dealer called to set up the appointment to meet, she mistakenly said $500 instead.therefore, i got it at $500 under because she messed up. with fees, i got it ataround16235 before taxes and fees. also qualified for their 1.9 - 36 month special interest rate.

Future Mods:
tint all around (undecided on %)
2-12 JL subs

i also have a 3i and was looking into getting an alarm. while shopping around i found out some interesting things.. if you're looking for keyless entry and you do not have power doors, you are going to need to invest in door actuators for every door you want to open with the keyless entry. places like circuit city charge 130 per door (labor and parts) specialy/sound shops will usually charge about 80 for the first door and 40 for every other door. if youre looking to do remote start the mazda key as well as most new cars have a rf chip built into the plastic of the key which is picked up by a coil in the ignition which allows the car to start, (so if you went to home depot and got a duplicate key cut you wouldnt be able to start the car because theres no chip in the key) you will need to install a transponder bypass which allows the car to be started by remote start or other keys because you have to imbbed one of the original keys in the bypass system which tricks the ecu on the car.. anyways thats just some info i thought you could use on your search for a security system. No, I'm in Winston-Salem. There are however lots of Mz3 owners in the Raleigh area. Come over to www.mazda3forums.com and say hi in the NC THREAD.
