Default n00b

Hey guys (and gals) im new to these forums. Im 23 - i just moved to the left coast via NYC and bought a '95 626. My previous car - i had to sell before moving out here (94 Ford Thunderbird. - it sucked but got me from A to B). I just bought this car for such a CHEAP price, and it runs great - I wanted to put a lot more time, effort, and $$$ into this car.

But i have a dilemma - i dont know whats street legal and whats not (smog is a new experience for me), and i Also dont know where to begin. If anyone can help me out with ANY information whatsoever please feel free. Cuz at this point you know a lot more than I do.

( i will be browsing the forums also - seeing if i can pick up any info from previously started threads)

Thanks,
F3ar.

(ps -go GIANTS!)

It's a 13 yr old family sedan. Whatwould you want to do to it?
I'd say take care of it w/reg maintenance and drive it into the ground.

Yeah, Man. No offense intended, but you have to face facts.

1. It IS 13 yrs old. My wife's Saturn is 13 this year too and I would never consider putting more $$$ into it than necessary.
2. You may like it and that's absolutely fine, but it was built as a family grocery getter. Now the MX-6 Turbo has more potential and is more sporty from the get-go.
3. Sorry, but it's not a classic and never will be. There were thousands of 626's on the road a few years ago... and still are, but they're not even noticed by most ppl. Long time owners of them are now trading up for a Jaguar.

Drive it.Save fuel and insurance costs with it.Enjoy it, but save your $$$ for something w/more life left in it and more potential.

+1. Keep it running for practical purposes only, then take your saved cash a few years from now - spend it on a car you WANT, whatever the make. If it's a Mazdaspeed3, Mazdaspeed MX-5, or other Mazda....great. If not, it's fine - take your pick of the market at the time.

Usually, a guy's first few cars are simple commuter, A-B cars; don't get bummed out over this one. Maintain it decently, and the car will run 'till you drive it into the ground. Part of progressing through life is to know when to pass on a hand, and play with your chips later. Trust me, you won't regret it.
