Default mazda3 intake supercharger

my cousin gave me a supercharger for a mazda3. its the one that hooks up between the filter and piping on the intake. basically a fan blower to suck in more air. would this be a good idea to put on? will it do damage to my engine, all its doing is sucking more air.

You mean the "Tornado"? Looks like a propeller?

If so. Don't put it in. Doesn't do crap.

Give us a pic.....well, if you increase the amount of air going into your engine, you also need to be able to adjust the fuel flow to compensate for the increased airflow. Without some kind of aftermarket fuel mgmt system to program, your car would most likely run like crap as it wouldn't be tuned properly.

Also a supercharger would have to be hooked up to the belt system in order to be driven. It sounds like what you're describing isn't actually a SC.

As to it doing damage........ If it were an actual supercharger you would have the same concerns as with a turbo, since they both do the same thing (ultimately) which is to force more air into the compression chamber. Superchargers are belt driven, and turbos are exhaust driven, but they're the same concept. More air (compressed) = more gas = bigger explosion = more power. The bigger explosion is where most people hit problems because generally you need to rebuild the engine with forged components that can take the load of the larger explosion. Soooooo if this were a real SC then you'd probably want to beef the engine up (depending on how strong the SC is) to withstand the extra load on it.

ORIGINAL: Draconius

(Part 1) You mean the "Tornado"? Looks like a propeller?

(Part 2) Don't put it in.

Part1. No he's talking about the so-called electric supercharger found on eBay betweenabout$60-$250. It's a powered squirrel cage that forces more air into the engine during WOT. It uses a WOT switchunder the gas pedal.

Part 2.What you said.....

You know what they say, if it sounds too good to be true, it IS too good to be true.

well u find it on ebay... and its really cheap... speaking from experience, stay away from ebay parts, especially parts that play a major role in your engine.
