Unhappy mazda3

hey, guys my 2005 mazda3 vvt broke. Is the engine non-interfernence? cause i have no compression now. please help

It is an interference engine. Your valves are toast!

Crank bolt should be set around 74 ft lbs

Thanks for the pic's. after taking the head off my Mazda3 2.3L foun that all intake valves bent. you can see vales mark on top off piston.

my only concern is that are the pistons OK... should i just send the head to the machine shop and reinstall it back.

Pistons will generally be fine. Just send out the head and get it revalved with new guides. With the head off turn the crank and watch the pistons and make sure they move freely and don't leave marks on the cylinder walls.

Hey, i do thank you so much for the info. i did rotate the crank and piston do move freely. i do need help on setting up the the timimg. waiting on the sst to arrive. do you have any pic's or can you guide me on how to time it.

Racer662009 thank you, can i reuse the timing chain or just buy a timing chain kit?
what's the best website to buy parts from? i do need to get a new VVT since the old one messed up. thanks again!!

Well if the old vvt gear messed up u probably want to replace the chain because it may have stretched when it locked up. I have always used the genuine mazda parts but I worked for a mazda dealer for over 10 years. Also make sure u replace the diamond washers behind the exhaust cam gear and the vvt gear. I can walk u through timing it but I don't have any pics. U will need 2 sst's to do it. The pin that goes in the side of the block for the crank and the plate that goes on the back of the cams
