You'll have a real hard time beating them out of the hole...AWD launches are awesome.

 

yeah 250 hp and AWD can beat 600 hp and RWD or FWD off the line. AWD just changes the physics possibilities of the car reguardless of power. In 93 the Mitsubishi Eclipse GTX was the fastest to 30 of any car ever tested(in 1993). This beats the 300ZX TT, Rx-7 TT, Corvette ZR-1, and others.

 

I just got the most recent issue of SportCompactCar Magazine and it's confirmed that the engine/turbo are the same as the 6 - so expect the same HP. If you're interested in the Speed3, I highly suggest picking up a copy of the magazine - they got an exclusive first look at it.

And, move quickly! They're only selling 5,000 of these in the US per year.

 

DO NOT expect the same power from the speed3. Even though it is the same engine it is inanother state of tune. The new CX-7 also uses the same engine as the speed6 but only has i think 244 hp (but has been retuned to make more torque). The 250 hp is correct (although I'm expecting some aftermarket support to change the computer to increase horsepower). It would be a stupid move on the part of mazda to make it the same as the 6.


Edit: What I'm really hoping for is the 2.3 turbo in the miata (how bout the hardtop one???)....or just stick the renesis in there...mmmm

 

U mean 5000 MS3's? If that's the case, when does it start going on sale so i can be 1 of those 5000

 

MAZDA website claims Mazdaspeed3 will have 274hp!!!

 

the mazda website says 263 hp not 274 with top speed of 154.5 with 20/28 mpg

I believe it's the Speed 6 with 274hp AWD... and now mazda listed as the Speed 3 having 263hp
