Default Mazda dealer not sure what oil in a Mazda3 CiTD (diesel)

Hi all :-)

In November 2006 I bought a new 2007 model Mazda3 1.6 CiTD 110hp (diesel)with self-generating particle filter.

As I was organising some Mazda dealerbills the other dayI noticedthat onthe(1st) 20kservice the dealer had used Dexelia DPF 5W30 oil for the oilchange.

On the next service (40k) cheaperVisco 3000 10W40 oil was used.

I called my dealer and asked him why this was. He told me that according to the service books both oils can be used. At the end of the conversation he wasn't so sure anymore and he told me that they also had a hard time finding out what oil in which engine (!?). He said he would contact the importer for Holland and he would let me know.He also emailed me a screen from the Mazda service network that specified(regular) 5W30or 10W40. However, at the top of this screen, it says Mazda3/Mazda3 MPS, there is no reference to diesel engines or DPF oil.

I did some googeling on the subject and found that Dexelia (Mazda) 5W30 DPFoilis specially developed andMazda recommends it as the only oil to be used inMazda diesel engines with a self-regenerating particle filter.

Mazda publications in Belgium, England, Germany and Australia state that using another oilinstead ofthe special low-ash DPF oil can severely reduce the lifetime of the particle filter by clogging it prematurely or even damage it. Also excesive engine wear was mentioned.

The weird thing is that I can not find any Mazda documentation from the Netherlands that mentions anything about it.

I decided to call another (Dutch) dealer and ask what oil they put in their Mazda diesels with particle filter andthis onealso told me that they put 'normal' oil in and not any special DPF oil.

It occurs to me that putting in 'wrong' oil could lead to more selling of (expensive) new particle filters,
One Mazda document talks about increase to 150k before having to buy a new particle filter (according to the manual a new one has to be refitted at 120k) when using the proper Dexelia DPF oil. Incidently the warranty runs out at 100k.

If haveemailed the texts and links I found to my dealer and wonder what he will come up with.

I expect at least a free of charge oilchange to the correct Mazda recommendedoil (only willing to pay the price difference for the more expensive oil but NOT for labor). And then I am not even talking about the fact that I drove 10k already with the 'wrong' oil and would have done another 10k before the next service interval if my eye didn't catch it on the bill!

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome..

Robert
