Not the first time I've heard this complaint about the OBX.
From what I've read, you have to go to a muffler or performance shop and have a special mid or flex pipe made for it. You may also have to have a bung welded in for the O2 sensor (iirc.)
I've read about CEL's using this header also, but have no personal experience w/it.
It's been said that Draxas, Thunder(both are 4-1 config) and Vibrant (4-2-1 config) are all better alternatives to the OBX.

Well...? Idon't think I can answer that for you, but a muffler shop might be able to help you w/recommendations. If I were going to a header system, and I'm not planning on it right now, I would've gone w/the Vibrant which is one of the few (or only) 4-2-1 designs for the 3 I've seen. That affords more power in the low & mid rpm range, and makes it more streetablethan does a 4-1 like the OBX. But the down side is it's quite expensive too.
I'd try to get a flex pipe in there if I could. A solid pipe is liable to cause problems with breakage.
I know that from what I've read (remember, no personal experience here) the OBX is the cheapest to buy but has the potential to be problematic. You're experiencing one of the first right now that others have complained about. It's not insurmountable though.
